Staff Picks #2

For this week, I’m sharing my Top 5 go to picks that I’ve been listening to over the semester. It’s a pretty large range of music picked for everyone to enjoy. Hope you like it! – Dayna Boone

#1: “Perks of Being a Sunflower,” by Soft Glas
This alternative/Indie song sounds like a chill summer day. He sings about the struggles of what he hates about himself over beautiful instrumentation and a mellow vibe.

#2: “Jardin,” an album by Gabriel Garzon-Montano
You might recognize this guys voice from Drake’s “Jungle,” Gabriel has a lot of talent that shouldn’t go unnoticed. There’s not a song I don’t like on this complex and thought-out album, It’s been my go-to album for the past semester and its one that makes you think.

#3: “Costa Rica,” by Ronny J (ft. Ski Mask The Slump God)
Ski Mask kills his verse in this song and in my opinion is one of the most underrated new school rap artists out. He makes the whole song, give it a listen.

#4: “Slum Love,” by Kimbra
This song plays with a syncopated and glitchy sound while making you feel empowered with its lyrics discussing difficult relationship issues most people face once in their lives. Kimbra is one of my favorite artists, and she’s one to be true to herself and give new sounds to the music industry.

#5: “Game Winner,” by Vulfpeck
Charles Jones has a beautiful voice that sets the romantic tone in this slow song that sounds just like it came out of a time machine. Vulfpeck is a very talented group with a variety of songs worth exploring.
